Over the past 50 years, the McBurney Transport group has internally grown and made external acquisitions to ensure we are able to provide and service our customers with the total transport & logistics solution.

The group’s strategy over the years has been to establish ourselves as a major Irish Sea logistics provider and we have achieved this through sheer hard work and investing heavily in our people, locations, equipment, the services we can provide and the IT systems to enable it all to happen.

The original founding company, McBurney Transport provides all types of transportation (dry, ambient & temperature controlled) and many value added services. As well as growing with our customers, the company has also expanded over the years by acquisitions to strengthen our customer base and grow our resources & services. It has become a recognised market leading company within UK & Ireland’s transport industry.

Ballymena is still the head office of the group with McBurney Transport also based in Cairnryan, Dublin, Larne, Penrith & Heysham.

McBurney Transport was honoured to be awarded Export & Freight’s European Haulier of the year 2015. Also during our 50th anniversary the company has been awarded ‘ASDA UK Service Provider of the year’ and Fleet Awards Ireland ‘Innovation of the year’ for our development of a new drivers app.

Bondelivery, which has been an integral part of the group for the past 25 years, providing groupage, distribution & warehousing facilities throughout Ireland. It has 30,000 sq m of warehousing space at its Nutts Corner depot and with a fleet of 80 vehicles and its extensive depot network along with UK & Irish partners it can offer a comprehensive bespoke cost effective and secure distribution & storage solution to fit any business requirement.

It has been well recognised for its excellence in customer service. Also as a winner of the ‘Irish Logistics Service Provider of the Year 2014’ award, Bondelivery has shown how it is innovative, competitive and can deliver true logistics partnerships to all our customers.

McBurney Refrigeration Ltd was set up 16 years ago after identifying the need and growing demand for the haulage of chilled and frozen products. The company was strengthened by a further acquisition in 2003 which added a 30,000 pallet cold storage facility & an established refrigerated transport company on a large 12 acre site in Liverpool. The company has grown over the years to become a leading provider of the complete temperature controlled transport and warehousing package throughout UK & Ireland with depots in Liverpool & Dublin.

Also the location of our Liverpool depot and cold store acts as a foothold in the UK for many Irish producers, allowing their product to be closer to the final user. The same can be said for UK food producers servicing Ireland, being one short ferry journey into Ireland and therefore their eventual market. For them we are a vital link in the supply chain.

McBurney Refrigeration Ltd was named ‘Chilled Operator of the year’ in 2014 and its Liverpool logistics and warehousing operation has received full BRC accreditation.
